All students in the Information Technology bachelor degree programs (Application Software, Electronic Marketing, End-User Support, Network Administration, and Web Development) are required to complete a full semester internship experience. This capstone course, taken in the student's final semester, ties together knowledge and experience gained in prior coursework, whether IT-related or business/management focused. The internship is a vital part of the curriculum, and helps ensure that graduates from Morrisville State College are a step ahead of the competition when seeking jobs in the IT Industry. In fact, the internship experience may lead directly to a full-time permanent position within the same organization.
Internship Sites
Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the student to secure an internship. However, the CIT Department maintains a list of companies/organizations interested in hiring our interns, and students are also required to take a 1-credit Internship Orientation Seminar. This seminar guides students through the process of finding an employer, and talks about what to expect in their first position in the IT industry.
